We love a good convergence of aesthetics and functionality in our gear, and Project Ratchet’s original wearable fidget ring ticked (or should we say clicked) a lot of boxes for a mindfulness tool we could wear everywhere and click away. It did have its limitations, however, such as having a unidirectional action while also producing enough audible feedback that would definitely be noticed in quieter spaces like a library or during a meeting.
The Polar Ring is Project Ratchet’s latest wearable, providing a silent successor to the clicky original and addressing the feedback that came with the first Ratchet Ring. Over 14 N52 neodymium magnets line the interior of the Polar Ring, giving both a silent, tactile feel while also now allowing the outer ring to be engaged in either direction. It provides the same, satisfying, segmented clicking sensation, only now much quieter, plus you don’t have to remember to wear your Polar Ring a specific way to start using it.
If you’re coming from the original Ratchet Ring, the Polar Ring will fit right at home on your fingers, coming in the same 7mm width across most sizes (7-14). You still have the option of seven finishes, including classic full 316L stainless steel, popular patterns like seigaiha, Black Editions that come with DLC and allow fast spinning due to the nature of the finish. Last but not least, Project Ratchet stand by all their rings, offering size exchanges, 90-day returns, as well as a lifetime warranty if you decide to keep your Polar Ring, and we have a good feeling you will.
(Editor’s note: At the time of this writing, some patterns and sizes are currently out of stock, so keep an eye out on Project Ratchet’s socials for news of future runs.)
