G-SHOCK Virtual World Collection

G-SHOCK watches are popular in the EDC community for being some of the toughest timepieces out there, specifically designed for people who spend most of their time in rugged terrain or brutal environments. Aside from their time-telling functionality, watches are still an important part of many people’s EDC as a way to express personal style. You might think you can't find extreme durability and functionality in a fashionable watch, but G-SHOCK beg to differ.

Their new Virtual World collection is yet another example of strong aesthetics without compromising the functionality the brand is known for. Inspired by virtual reality, the collection brings vibrant violet and bold blue accents to three digital-analog hybrid watches in a retrofuturistic theme.

G-SHOCK GA2100VB-1A

Featuring a distinctive octagonal case, the GA2100VB-1A remains the smallest of the collection at 46.2mm. And thanks to the addition of a Carbon Core Guard structure, it also remains the lightest at only 41g (1.4 oz). As you might have noticed, the GA2100VB-1A has the most streamlined face out of the trio, featuring only a day sub-dial along with a minimal digital display showing only the most essential information.

It sports a sleek black dial to provide eye-catching contrast against the bright blue hands and violet G-SHOCK branding. Another unique features to this model is a light fadeout feature on the dial. For those looking to experience G-SHOCK tough performance and iconic silhouette without the bulk, the GA2100VB-1A is the one to get.

G-SHOCK GA700VB-1A

Being the largest timepiece out of the three, the GA700VB-1A matches its performance with a powerful wrist presence of 57.5mm and a total weight of 69g (2.4 oz). This model strikes a nice balance of essential information with at-a-glance legibility. The GA700VB-1A features three digital displays for its multiple timetelling functions, including a timer, stopwatch, day/date, and alarm, just to name a few.

The analog part of its dial comes in with smaller, sharper pointed hands to reinforce that sleeker look. Also unlike the others in the collection, the GA700VB-1A has deep blue colored buttons to contrast with the black resin case and band. Finally, 5 years of battery life will make sure you can rely on this G-SHOCK for a long time.

G-SHOCK GA900VB-1A

The GA900VB-1A offers the most features and functions out of the trio and manages to fit it all in a heavy-duty silhouette. Its striking violet and neon blue face packs in a ton of information in its three digital displays. The digital side of this hybrid covers functions like a full auto-calendar, multiple measuring modes, and regular timekeeping. The analog part of the watch doesn’t fall behind either, with skeletonized hands sporting a striped pattern inspired by industrial “caution” signs, staying true to the original model.

Following in that industrial line, the GA900VB-1A’s 10-sided bezel is adorned by four bolts at the “corners,” giving it a tougher, more durable construction and aesthetic. To finish things off, this G-SHOCK will last you a whopping 7 years before you need to replace its batteries.
